George Ranalli is an acclaimed American modernist architect and designer with more than four decades of experience shaping residential, civic, and cultural architecture. Educated at Pratt Institute School of Architecture and the Harvard Graduate School of Design, he founded George Ranalli Architect in 1977 and has built a reputation for designs that thoughtfully balance innovation, history, and context.
Throughout his career, Ranalli has maintained a strong commitment to architectural education. He is the former Professor of Design at Yale School of Architecture at Yale University, where he taught architectural design and visual studies for 23 years. He later served as Dean of the School of Architecture at the City University of New York from 1999 to 2017, where he shaped the next generation of architects and design leaders.
His work has been recognized with numerous architectural awards and is included in the collections of institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Canadian Centre for Architecture. Ranalli is also a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, reflecting his lasting influence on contemporary architectural practice.
